My bucket list of tourist destinations is an ever-growing list of places I want to visit and experience. From the majestic beauty of the Grand Canyon to the bustling streets of Tokyo, there are so many places I want to explore. I have narrowed down my list to six places that I would love to visit. Each of these places has its own unique history and culture, which I am eager to experience.
- The Great Wall of China
- The Taj Mahal
- The Eiffel Tower
- The Great Barrier Reef
- Machu Picchu
- The Colosseum
The Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. It is a symbol of Chinese culture and history, and it is a must-see for any traveler. The wall stretches for over 5,500 miles and is an impressive feat of engineering. It was built over 2,000 years ago to protect China from invaders. I would love to explore the different sections of the wall and learn about its history. I am eagerly awaiting the day when I will be standing atop the wall to take in the breathtaking views.

The Taj Mahal is a stunning white marble mausoleum located in Agra, India. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I would love to explore the intricate details of this magnificent structure and learn about its history. I know it’s hard to believe that despite being from India, I have never been to the Taj Mahal. Somehow it never worked out, but this year I plan to make it happen. Fingers crossed.
The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower, built in 1889, is an iconic landmark located in Paris, France. Can you believe that it was built as a temporary exhibit for the 1889 World’s Fair? It stands 1,063 feet tall and is one of the most recognisable structures in the world. I want to experience this romantic place shown in so many of my favourite movies in reality and explore its history.
The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world. It is located off the coast of Australia and is home to an abundance of marine life. The reef stretches for over 1,400 miles and is a popular destination for snorkelling and diving. I would really love to explore this unique ecosystem and take in its beauty. I would also like to learn more about its fragile ecosystem and how we can help protect it.
Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is an ancient Incan city located in Peru. It was built in the 15th century and is considered one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world. I am looking forward to exploring this ancient city and learning about its history. I even plan to take in the breathtaking views from atop the ruins and take a stroll through its terraced gardens. I am sure it will make a great Instagrammable destination!
The Colosseum
The Colosseum in Rome, Italy, is an iconic landmark. It was built in 70 AD and was used for gladiator fights and other public events. The Colosseum is one of the most recognisable structures in the world and a popular tourist destination. This has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I hope I can check it off my list soon.
I love travelling and have an interest in exploring each place and experiencing the culture that is unique to that place. Visiting these places will be an unforgettable experience, and I hope I will be able to cross some of them off my list this year.
